Coming HOME to Henniker, NH!

I had an amazing day today...I brought my kids (all 3 of them) to my mother's and left them to take a great drive up to Henniker, by myself!!!...

the only Henniker on earth BTW! I love this town. I first visited in 1984 as a senior in High School on my admissions interview. I just felt the energy and knew this is where I needed to live and go to college!

I finished up in 1989 after 4 amazing years and over the past 18 years (yikes, i still can't believe it's been that long) I have worn many hats. Today's hat is the Happy House Quilts one and I wear it with pride. How awesome for me to come full circle and have my Coffee Quilts(TM) and Threadibilities Craft Kits(TM) be available at a store in the downtown area?!?!?!? It's truly beyond words...I got teary on my drive home!

New Hampshire All Natural is a new shop but it's already making a mark with River Tube rentals and amazing all natural products. I just felt at home there sitting with Marcy, the store's owner. The college students will be back soon and I am hoping they all want Coffee Quilts(TM) to protect their hands and the environment as they will save about 4-6 pounds of trash a year!

There is something to be said about coming home again...that's how i feel every time I step foot in Henniker, NH!

  2. Oh, how I miss the East Coast! Your post is very evocative. I'd love to be selling my stuff in the small college town where I went to school back East. Maybe someday...

Good for you for getting some time for yourself, and glad you had a great day!

  3. That's great! Good for you! I've gone full circle too and after many years of travelling the globe and living in other cities am now back in the city I went to University in (for my first degree). Unfortunately, I'm still missing Sydney but I'm sure I'll get used to it eventually.
You've been tagged too! Check here -> http://tigergirletsy.blogspot.com/2007/07/7-things-you-didnt-know-about-me.html

  4. Congratulations on getting your items in the store. What a great feeling. I don't know what sounds better to me... getting items in a store or leaving the kids with Mom while I take a solo drive :-)! I love being in the car by myself occasionally.

Here is a link to the fabric mover http://www.quilterscruisecontrol.com/ I see that your machine is listed in the "works with" list. I believe the initial msrp for the unit is about $1200 but in speaking with a shop owner she said the reps say it actually sells best at $899 and they move at $799.

So, not an inexpensive option but sooooooo nice!

Don't worry about the meme - do it when you get around to it.

  7. Thanks so much for telling me about this store. I can't wait to check it out. I'll look for your stuff while I'm there, and I'll be sure to tell them I never go anywhere without my coffee quilt!

The artist carver is from Tonga. HIs wife (my friend) is from NH. They met in Utah and now live in Hawaii! I'm not sure where in NH though...
I am going to take pics of my 2 necklaces and put them on the blog too. They just have this magical energy to them!

  9. happy house - you asked what a meme was, as wikipedia is much better at these explanations than me:
    From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

An Internet meme .... is a piece of digital content that spreads rapidly, widely, and organically from person to person on the Internet. The term is a reference to the memes as virus-like self-replicating packet of information
